A Eureka moment

I have always approached life from somewhat of a different perspective. I have always believed that life is wonderful, family is precious, friends are to be treasured and that brick walls are meant to either be climbed or bulldozed. I value my reputation and my word is good. If that makes me old fashioned, then so be it. And, if what I'm doing is not fun, what can I do to make it fun?

I come from a large family of people who love to cook and love to eat. I have always gravitated toward certain food items — one of which is the cookie. If you were my boyfriend away at college (and you know who you are) you received cookies in the mail from me every week. Sometimes they were true to the recipe, many times, they were not. But they never lasted the week (or so you said).

So, when my husband (not the college/cookie boyfriend) began to exhibit some health issues and it became apparent we needed to change our approach to the good life of food, I had one of those brick wall visions. I am not going to live a life based on artificial, chemically engineered pseudo-food. Nor am I going to eat the equivalent of grass. I deserve wonderful decadent foods. Food that loves me as much as I love it. Foods that provide the very best life has to offer.

The clouds parted. The drums began to roll and the music played. I knew in that moment it was time to learn a new way of using old tried and true items that had sustained the health of my predecessors well into their late nineties.

Being a retired technical sales executive, digging into the dry reading of nutritional and health related books seemed, well,… all-natural. I knew there was a way to change my approach to food and have it all. Yes, I was determined to have all natural, refreshing cookies that would satisfy my sweet tooth, would meet my need for crunchiness, and would be kind to my body.
